Well, to begin, I began a Keto Journey on March 12th, 2018 with my friend Beck. We started with a Fasting I like to call the Keto reboot. It is a 60 hour fast to help jump start you to get into Ketosis. We drank Therapeutic Ketones, Broth and Tea for 60 hours and that was it. The energy I felt made me feel like a superhero!
However, in this journey, I have come across some issues, like most people, on any journey. I developed Plantar Fasciitis, some pretty severe muscle pain in my back and very dry skin. Mind you, I was drinking plenty of water and supplementing with Electrolytes. But, I have always battled dry skin so I cannot say this is or was a “keto” problem. But nonetheless, I had to fix it. So I dove in and did some research. I also knew that I did not want the Cortizone shots that are a standard band-aid for Plantar Fasciitis.
What I found in my research is that Plantar Fasciitis is actually an irritation of the soft tissues in the foot, a tear in the tendon and some swelling. I also found that Dry Skin can be a vitamin Deficiency. Well, it turns out that some of the same vitamins that treat soft tissue issues, also treat dry skin issues. I was in luck!
I jumped on board when watching Dr. Berg on YouTube about Dry Skin and Keto, and about Plantar Fac….I am just going with PF from here out…Needless to say, It appeared that I only needed a few supplements to help with the issues I was facing.
Now, my dry skin is really bad, to the point that my nails split and crack and my cuticles bleed. It can be painful. Then to top that off with PF and major muscle pain in my upper back, I felt like a walking train wreck. Lucky though, I found I was not the only one who suffers from these things.
So I gave in an I ordered some Vitamin K2, Vitamin A, and Potassium. Why do you ask? Well, they all help with muscle recovery and development. Vitamin A and K help with Soft tissue (PF) and dry skin. So I feel really blessed that I only needed a few things, and prayed that these would help.
Within one week of taking The Vitamin K, A and Potassium my foot stopped hurting! If you have ever had PF, you know that pain that comes along with it. Just that alone, is enough to keep me on these supplements. However a few days ago, I noticed my skin was no longer dry, my nails look amazing (No Polish here), My feet are not as dry, my hair is not as dry…I would say this is a blessing. 🙂
I am running on a 3-month run to see where and how things come August are, I believe that will be the real test. After that, I will be switching over to a Multi-Vitamin to see if I can continue to be blessed with the benefits of these three supplements, but combined into one, instead of taking 9 pills every morning.
But if you are like me, and dislike the modern American Pharma, then this is a very small price to pay to be getting healthy, naturally.
